Barbara “Barb” Lynn Johnson was a partner, sister, aunt, and a friend to many people. She passed away on June 9, 2023, at the age of 64, in Louisville, Colorado. She was born on April 11, 1959, in Virginia, Minnesota. Barb chased her dreams of photography and travel after graduating from High School in 1977. She attended Eveleth Vo-Tech and in 1985 she received a degree in Graphic Arts. While living in Helena, MT she continued her education at Carroll College. She always loved the mountains and lived in many places out west before settling in Denver.
Barb always had a smile for those she would meet and was a source of knowledge on training and bonding with dogs. Barb enjoyed laying scent tracks for training the S.T.O.R.M. (Scent Trackers of the Rocky Mountains) dogs and was able to keep the teams working to find their end Target. The dogs knew her as the “treat lady” and she always had the freshest, cold water for breaks. In addition to her leadership with S.T.O.R.M. Barb worked as an aviation weather observer at Denver International Airport until she retired and she ran a private business providing in-home pet care.
Barb’s smile and friendship will be missed by all who knew her. She left us too soon but most definitely be remembered! A memorial service was held for her honor in Denver on July 30th at the park where she would go often and bring her dogs.
Barb was preceded in death by her partner, Debra Cushway: Parents: Kenneth and Evelyn Johnson; and Brother: Terry Johnson.
She Is survived by: Brother: Scott (Lisa Staudahar) Johnson; Niece: Melanie Johnson; Cousins and her many friends in the Scent Trackers of the Rocky Mountains(S.T.O.R.M)
A special thanks to Jane, Sherry and Laura.
