Carol Erickson Obituary

Carol Janet (Anderson) Erickson, age 93, of Hermantown and formerly of Virginia, died Mar. 17, 2021, at Edgewood Vista in Hermantown.

Carol Janet (Anderson) Erickson, age 93, of Hermantown and formerly of Virginia, died March 17, 2021, at Edgewood Vista in Hermantown.  She was born in 1927, the daughter of Carl and Gendina (Larson) Anderson.  She was a 1944 graduate of Virginia High School and attended Virginia Junior College.  She was united in marriage to Bernard “Bernie” Edwin Erickson on July 24, 1948.  She lived in Minneapolis, Duluth, Madison, WI, and settled in Virginia for 50 years.  Together, the two would go polka dancing, meet with their two circles of friends from Duluth, and play cards.  They traveled around the country and took a trip to Hawaii with her cousins, Anna Mae Dloughy and Sonny and Vista Haugen, and made one trip to Germany.  She moved to Duluth to be closer to her daughter, Carleen Ronchetti.  She was determined to be as independent as possible, living in her own apartment.  She was a sweet soul and had many friends.

Carol worked at Sears in Minneapolis, Duluth and Virginia.  She typed brail for the blind, played league bowling, delivered meals on wheels and was a Girl Scout Leader.  She was active in Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Virginia – belonging to the Priscilla Circle, the Virginia Study Club, and participated in preparing meals for special events at the Church.  She made many Afghans for family members, and stitched the family Christmas skirt covers entirely with sequins.  She made many pieces of pottery, including 4 sets of the Nativity for her family, and multiple other pieces.  She cherished time spent with her family and friends, and was a very active and involved Grandmother and Mother.  She was an avid reader.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Bernard (2000);  and sister-in-law: Helen Erickson Taylor.

She is survived by her children: Carleen (Mike) Ronchetti of Duluth, Kim (Leslie) Erickson of Florida, and Kent (Renee) Erickson of Indiana; grandchildren: Brent Ronchetti and Kristin (Jesse) Thompson, Jessica (Sergio) Erickson and Lindsey (Josh) Reasoner, Stephanie Craig, Jennifer (James) Bowers, Kristene (Steve) Duke, and Steven (Kerissa) Erickson; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law: Helen (Don) Taylor.  She was our best friend.

A Private Family service will be held.  Pastor Amy Janssen, Officiant.  Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
