Charles Melvin “Chuck” Childs, age 75 of Sandy Township, died Friday, February 2, 2024 surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born September 23, 1948 in Duluth, the son of Maxwell and Gladys (Stevens) Childs. Chuck grew up in Duluth and moved to the Iron Range in the mid-seventies. He was employed by Staver Foundry and owned and operated the Unique and Antique store and C&S Pawn. He was a member of the Trap Club, served as a Union President; and was a longtime president of the Iron Range Chapter of the BPM’s and was a member for over 40 years. Chuck enjoyed hunting, fishing, and motorcycles.
Chuck is survived by his wife: Char, sons: Buddy of Hibbing, Chuck (Chris) of Duluth, Raymond of Eveleth, and Roger (Kathy) of Superior; grandchildren: Dakota, Jordanna, Josh, and Craig; siblings: Margaret, Maxine, Edie. Tom, and Glen; several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, club members, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Ellie, Dan, Jim, Sarah, and a sister in infancy; and granddaughter: Sheyenne.
A Celebraion of Life will be held on June 1, 2024 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at The Shack 7075 Mn Hwy 169 North Virginia
Memorials are preferred.
