Colleen Mary (Heffron) Lahti, age 84, of Hibbing and formerly of Houston, TX, peacefully passed on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at The Waterview Pines in Virginia, MN.  She was born December 27, 1941, in Hibbing, MN, the daughter of Thomas B. and Mary A. (Enich) Heffron.  She was a graduate of Hibbing High School, and went on to receive her BS in Education from Bemidji State University.

            Colleen is survived by her children: Thomas (Marrianne) Lahti of Biwabik, MN, Lorri (Greg) Merecka of The Woodlands, TX, and Nikki (Cory) Vandervort of Angora, MN; sisters: Kathy Roddy of Hibbing, and MaryLou McKay of Superior, WI; beloved grandchildren: McKenna Merecka, Mathison Merecka, and Brystin Vitense; and numerous extended family and friends.

            Throughout her life, Colleen worked as a teacher, a homemaker, and daycare provider, to name a few.  Teaching was her passion.  She enjoyed working on puzzles, visiting with friends over coffee, and watching her British Television Shows.

            She was preceded in death by her parents.  

            A Celebration of Life Service for Colleen will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel, in Hibbing.  Greg Anderson will be the Celebrant.

            In lieu of cut flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or live plants are preferred.
