Dani Paul Wellander, 64, of Soudan died on April 7, 2026. Dani was born to Paul and Ileeta Wellander and attended school in Tower-Soudan and the Eveleth Vo-Tech.
Dani had his first job at the Tower Zup’s store and later worked at Festival grocery store in Virginia. He enjoyed fishing both summer and winter, flower and vegetable gardening, collecting baseball cards, trapping, and was an avid hunter with both a gun and a bow. Dani followed in his dad’s footsteps and became an accomplished carpenter. Many people are enjoying the amazing picnic tables and birdhouses he made.
Dani spent many years, without a complaint, caring for his mom. He really struggled when she was finally moved to a nursing home, and with her sudden death. His sister is so grateful for the care he provided to their mom. He will be missed.
Dani is survived by his son Aaron (Leighanna) of Hibbing, MN; grandchildren: Kaydan and Izzik; sister Carrie (Randy) Anderson of International Falls, MN; nephew Christopher Anderson of Aurora, MN; niece Danielle Anderson of International Falls, MN; cousin Karen (Ken) Perry of Fr. Worth, TX and aunt Charlene (Billy) Weber of Rochester, WI.
Dani was preceded in death by his parents; Uncle Norman Thierer; Cousin Sherri (Thierer) Marx; and grandparents Ken and Christina Thierer.
