Earl Eugene Fisher was born on October 12th, 1931, in Virginia MN. He passed peacefully, on June 6, 2023, at his home. His parents were Myrtle and William A. Fisher.
Earl graduated from Grinnell College. While in college he travelled to Europe as an exchange student. There was a meager allowance, but he experienced a lot, around his studies in Italy. Following graduation, he returned to Virginia and worked at his father’s business, WA Fisher Printing Company. He married Suzanne Tollefsrud and settled in Virgina (Midway) MN. They had three children, Earl (Bud), Patty Sue, and Annie.
Earl proceeded to own and manage his father’s printing business until his retirement.
Earl was interested in airplanes and purchased his own. He would fly from his home on Ely Lake to the family cabin on Lake 14, and to the Moose Lake cabin also. He also flew to Canada for fishing trips. Earl was a member of the Elks.
Earl married Violet Irene (Mulden) Verbick March 12th, 1983, and enjoyed their home on Ely Lake. They played golf and spent a lot of time at the Fisher hunting camp at Moose Lake. 4th of July and Christmas Eve were celebrated at their home, with family.
Fishing, duck and deer hunting, were Earl’s favorite hobbies. He taught daughter Annie hunting, and many memories and successful hunts were enjoyed. Earl and family made a lot of improvements at the hunting camp, and lots of happy times were shared. Every fall, Earl and Irene would host a weekend and invite 2-3 couples for 2 days of duck hunting, cards, games, and cheer.
Other favorite hobbies acquired later in life were golf and computer. Earl and Irene were able to do some travel and began to winter in Sun Lakes Arizona after they retired.
