Elizabeth “Betty” Marie vonBrethorst, age 85, of Hibbing MN, died peacefully Tuesday December 16,2025 at Guardian Angels nursing home in Hibbing with family at her side.  She was born May 7,1940 in Hibbing, the daughter of Anthony and Mary (Isaacson) Keseley.  She was a 1958 graduate of Hibbing High School.  Elizabeth was united in marriage to Allan G. vonBrethorst on June 21,1958 at the Wesley Methodist Church in Hibbing. They lived in Minneapolis and Babbitt, before building their home of over 50 years in Iron, MN.

               Betty was a homemaker, but also worked as a bookkeeper at Feldman’s, F.H. Bathke, John’s Auto Body, and Shubat Transportation and as a tax consultant for H&R Block – all in Hibbing.  She was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church and TOPS in Forbes.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, cooking, shopping, dining out and playing volleyball.  As a teen and young adult, she liked to draw.

Betty Will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband Allan; children: Laura vonBrethorst of Hibbing, Ronald (Kim) vonBrethorst, Connie (Eric) Enders of Rochester MN and Jeffrey vonBrethorst; sisters: Dorothy Schafer and Loretta Hitchcock; Sister-in-law Doris (Bob) Long; grandchildren: Eric vonBrethorst, Douglas (Beth Schram) vonBrethorst, Todd (Keiri) vonBrethorst, Michelle vonBrethorst, Breanna Enders, and Ami vonBrethorst; great-grandchildren: Austin, Jaden, Trevor, Raya, Layla, Scotty, BrynnLeigh, Mazey, Emma, Cassie, and Vivienne; and numerous extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers-in-law.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. May 16,2026 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Hibbing, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the church.  The Reverend John Scheuer will officiate.  Inurnment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Hibbing MN.
