Evelyn A Hoaglun

            Evelyn Alvina Hoaglun, age 107, longtime resident of Hibbing and formerly of Bigfork died Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Guardian Angels in Hibbing.  She was born April 18, 1916, in Long Prairie, MN, the daughter of Leo and Estelle (Decker) Plaisted.  She was united in marriage to Elroy Andrew Hoaglun, on April 16, 1934, in Bigfork, MN.

            Evelyn worked as a homemaker.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Hibbing and was active in their sewing circles.  She was a longtime member of the Maple Hill Community Center, a founding member of the Circle H Riding Club, and was a 4-H Club leader.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, painting, and square dancing.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

            Evelyn is survived by her children: Lola Jensen of Excelsior, MN, Leota Lastovich of Hibbing, MN, Elroy Hoaglun of Hibbing, MN, and Frederic Hoaglun of Hibbing, MN; brother: Joyce Plaisted of Chicago, IL; sister: Idella Gabler of Long Prairie, MN; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Elroy; daughters: Alvina LeRoy, and Estella Weisenberger; brothers: Ellsworth “Bud” Plaisted, and Eldridge “Ted” Plaisted, Arvid “Jr” Sundquist; sisters: Leona Atkinson, Mildred Marks, and Mercedes “Merce” Campblell.

            Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Service Friday, May 12, 2023, at First Lutheran Church in Hibbing.  The Reverend John Dietz will officiate.  Interment will be in the Bigfork Cemetery.
