Jill Suzanne Hebl, age 65, of Ely and formerly of Babbitt, MN, died Sunday, December 1, 2024, in her home following a battle with cancer.  She was born July 18, 1959, in Winton, MN, the daughter of Robert and Marvella (Shaw) Powell.  Jill was united in marriage to Billy Hebl in 1981 in Babbitt, MN.      

            Jill worked for the US Forest Service for 34 years retiring as Assistant Aviation Officer for the Superior National Forest.  She enjoyed kayaking, biking, traveling, gardening, and snowshoeing.  Jill earned her black belt in martial arts.

            Jill is survived by her husband: Billy; brothers: Michael Powell of Iron, MN, and Clair John Powell of Rimrock, AZ; sister: Janice Powell of Foley, AL; and numerous extended family members and friends. 

            She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers: Steven Powell and Rodney Jensen.

            A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Inurnment will be in the Argo Cemetery.
