Joan Marie Fantigrossi-Erickson of Mt. Iron died on October 4, 2024 at home surrounded by family and her beloved dog, Meso.  She was born on July 26, 1951 in Hibbing to Enrico and Genevieve (Fanelli) Fantigrossi.  She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Virginia.  In 1980 she was married to Vern Marvin Erickson. 

Joan loved her work as a paraprofessional providing educational and emotional support to students.  Joan’s pride and joy was being a mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed being a hockey mom, going for walks with her dog Meso, vacationing to Florida to visit her daughter, taking walks on the beach, collecting seashells, she loved shopping and collecting knick knacks, and had a love for cooking (especially her grandma’s spaghetti sauce.)

Joan is survived by her husband Vern; sons:  Enrico (Patricia) Welsch of Virginia, MN and Nicholas Erickson of Mt Iron, MN; daughter Elizabeth Erickson of St. Pete Beach, FL.; and grandson Luca Erickson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Enrico Fantigrassi.

A private service is being held for family with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
