Joyce Lila Marie Solinger, age 84, longtime resident of Mt. Iron, MN, died Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Duluth.  She was born April 12, 1939, in Hibbing, MN, the daughter of Matt and Lillian (Gibson) Maki.  She was a graduate of Hibbing High School.  Joyce was united in Marriage to LeeRoy G. Solinger on September 21, 1957, in Hibbing.

            Joyce worked as a homemaker.  She also worked at the A&W in Hibbing and was secretary for Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hibbing for a few years.  She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Virginia where she often helped with the quilting circles.  She enjoyed rosemaling and watching romantic comedies.

            Joyce is survived by her daughter: Kristen M. Peterson of Mt. Iron; brother: Roger (Hermene) Maki of Hibbing; sister-in-law: Carol Maki of Hibbing; grandchildren: Dylan Peterson, Kyle Peterson, and Samantha Martin; great-grandchildren: Landyn and Twilla; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: LeeRoy (2006); grandson: Mitchell Saltzman; son: David Solinger; and brothers: Walter and Maurice.

            Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service Friday, April 12, 2024, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Virginia.  Pastor Liz Cheney will officiate.  Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia.
