Judith Mardel (Van Soest) Linden

Judith Mardel Linden, age 82, of Virginia, MN, and formerly of Minneapolis, MN, Columbia, MO, New London, WI, and Des Moines, IA, died Friday, July 26, 2024, at Essentia Health – St. Mary’s in Duluth.  She was born August 19, 1941, in Denver, CO, the daughter of Neal and Florence (Rystad) Van Soest.  She was a graduate of Biwabik High School and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in Medical Record Administration from St. Scholastica.  Judith was united in marriage to Roger Paul Linden on June 18, 1966, at the Biwabik Covenant Church in Biwabik, MN.

            Judy worked in Medical Records Administration at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, MN, and Olmstead Community Hospital in Rochester, MN before working as a Medical Transcriptionist at the East Range Clinic in Virginia, MN.  She retired in 2010.  She was a member of the First Covenant Church in Virginia where she was the church pianist for many years.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, walking, and she was a lifelong animal lover.

            Judy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roger; children: Jon (Amy) Linden of St. Paul, MN, Mark (Nancy) Linden of Milaca, MN, and Sara (Coley) Max of Virginia, MN; siblings: Dorothy (Susan) Van Soest of Seattle, WA, Timothy (Kathy) Van Soest of Britt, MN, and Richard (Lynette) Van Soest of Coon Rapids, MN; grandchildren: Jack Linden, Ben Linden, Emily (Allen) Hixon, Brandon Max, Daniel Linden, Ellie Linden, and Thomas Linden; and numerous extended family and friends.

            She was preceded in death by her parents.

            Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. Memorial Service Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Biwabik Covenant Church.  In leu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Mesabi Humane Society.
