Kirsten Huseby Obituary

Kirsten Naomi Huseby was born in Cook, Mn on July 30, 1947, the daughter of Oliver and Fannie Huseby. She grew up in rural Cook, attended and graduated from Cook High School in 1965. She attended Virginia Junior College, held secretarial and bookkeeping Positions with the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. And Gunderson Insurance Agency. She married Dean Squires on 1969. They welcomed a son, Benjamin in October of 1972. In July of 1975, they moved to rural Cook. Kris worked for Francis Insurance Agency until their second son, James was born in October of 1977. Kris went to work for the Cook Area Credit Union in February of 1979. She assumed the management of the Credit Union in June of 1980 where she remained until her retirement in June of 2006. She married Lee Nurmi in August of 2006. Lee and Kris traveled the United States, Canada, and Mexico. In 2008 they began spending winters in Arizona, and did so for many years. Kris enjoyed travel, the great outdoors, and watching her beloved birds and animals. Her favorite pastime was reading mysteries and legal thrillers.

Kris is survived by her sons: Benjamin (Amy) Squires of Virginia and James Squires of Cook; brother: Michael (Gloria) Huseby of Embarrass; granddaughters: Meghan (Isiah) Murphy and Anya Squires; extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Donna Rautiola, Jerry Huseby, and Jeffery Huseby; sister-in-law: Cheryl Huseby; brother-in-law: Jack Rautiola; and many beloved aunts and uncles.

There will be no funeral at her request.
