LaMay M. Bocht, age 88, longtime resident of Chisholm and formerly of Mankato and Minneapolis, died Friday, October 20, 2023, at Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. She was born July 19, 1935 in Carsonville, TWP, the daughter of Orville and Agnes (Lammers) Crandall. She was a graduate of Park Rapids High School, and went on to receive a degree in nursing from Hamline University and graduated from the St. Cloud Hospital’s School of Anesthesia. LaMay was united in marriage to Ronald G. Bocht on June 29, 1963, in Minneapolis.
LaMay worked as a Nurse Anesthetist at the Hibbing General Hospital, Immanuel Hospital in Mankato, Midway Hospital in St. Paul, the VA Hospital in Minneapolis, as a RN at Leisure Hills, and Home Health Care in Hibbing, and taught at the Hibbing Community College. LaMay enjoyed playing golf, cribbage, watching Twins games with Ron, knitting, scrapbooking and baking with her grandchildren, and traveling to Texas during the winters. In Texas, she made lifelong friends at the community clubhouse and enjoyed planning potlucks and playing cards.
LaMay is survived by her husband: Ronald; sons: Bryan (Susan) Bocht of Duluth, and Warren Bocht of Madison, WI; sister: Marie (Curt) Mecklenburg of Clitherall, MN; brothers: Ben (Barb) Crandall of St. Michael, MN, Leo (Ethylene) Crandall of Dublin, VA, and Paul Crandall of New York Mills, MN; grandchildren: Jacob (Hannah) Bocht, Emily (Riley) Anderson, Rubee Bocht, Libby Bocht, Hayley Bocht, and Lindsey Bocht; great-grandchildren: Spencer, Charlotte, and Theodora Bocht, and Colbie and Haizely Anderson; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Herman and Ivan Crandall; and daughter-in-law: Jennifer Bocht.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Celebration of Life Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel. Greg Anderson will be the Celebrant. Inurnment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date.
