Mariann Lowen Obituary

Mariann Lowen, 93, of Hibbing, peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, March 8, 2024.
She was a lifelong Hibbing resident, born June 4, 1930, the daughter of John and Marie (Matson) Munter.  Mariann was a 1948 graduate of Hibbing High School, where she was named “Engineers Sweetheart”, and a 1952 graduate of the University of MN, Minneapolis, majoring in home economics.  She married Richard Lowen on July 26, 1952.  Mariann was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, Hibbing, serving as a deaconess, as a member of the Deborah Circle and as an alto in the choir.  She was an active member of the Hibbing Area Association of University Women (A.A.U.W.) since 1952.  She was an excellent cook, always creating fantastic meals for her entire family.  She loved her church, her family, gardening, collecting owls and Santas, playing bridge, watching This Old House and Murder, She Wrote, and she especially loved summers at the family cabin built by her father on Big Sturgeon Lake.  Mariann and Richard were two of the founding members of the Chapel of the Pines, where Mariann served as treasurer for 48 years.
We are forever grateful to Mariann’s granddaughter, Allie Jaynes, for lovingly caring for her grandmother in her final years, allowing Mariann to remain in her home of 70 years.
