Merrill D Davidson Obituary

Merrill Davidson, age 94, longtime resident of Side Lake, MN, and formerly of Hibbing, MN, and Fridley, MN, died Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in his home with family at his side.  He was born May 23, 1931, in North Dakota, the son of Pat and Dorothy (Holcomb) Davidson.  A Veteran of the US Air Force, Merrill served in the Philippines during the Korean War.  Merrill was united in marriage to Beverly Hadlock on June 16, 1962, at the Chapel of the Pines in Side Lake, MN.


Merrill worked doing heavy equipment maintenance for Euclid in Hibbing and Fridley, and was a school bus driver for First Student.  He was a collector of cars and eagles, enjoyed car racing, putzing in the garage, snowmobile trips, listening to polka music and watching polka shows, celebrating the 4th of July with family and friends, and talking to anybody and everybody.


Merrill is survived by his wife: Beverly; children: Dale (Nancy) Davidson of Britt, MN, Becky (Brian) Larson of Duluth, MN, and Shari (Travis) Serafin of Glencoe, MN; grandchildren: Dustin, Nathan, Haley, Ashley, Sydney “Noodle,” Isabella, and Olivia; two great-grandchildren: Carson and Madison (and one more on the way).


He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister: Audrey Raich.


A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Bimbo’s Octagon.  A private inurnment will be at a later date in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.  Memorials are preferred to the Veterans or to Children’s Hospital.
