Richard James “Roby” Robnik, age 78 of Hibbing died Monday, February 19, 2024 in his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born January 24, 1946 in Shenango Location, the son of Stanley “Spud” and Helen (Sovanich) Robnik, was a 1964 graduate of Chisholm High School, and Hibbing Vocational – Technical College. He moved to his home on South Salmi Road in the early 1970’s. Roby was the founder, owner and operator of Truck and Equipment Repair, still working in his 45th year of operation. He was a gifted mechanic, and avid Bluejacket Boys Basketball fan, and an active supporter of the Hibbing Raceway. Roby was an excellent and supportive father and grandpa. He will be missed by many.
Roby is survived by his children: Chad Robnik of Bethel, MN, Jason Robnik of Stacy, MN, Joline (Phil) Nelson of Hibbing, and Jake Erickson of Duluth; grandchildren: Kiefer, Stevie, Morgan, Paige, Ashley, Austin, Justin, Heaven, and Dylan; Two great-grandchildren, and one on the way; extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Helen and Stanley “Spud” Robnik, grandparents: William & Mary Sovanich; Uncle Roy Koshere; and Aunt & Uncle John and Helen Sovanich.
The gathering of Family and Friends will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home in Hibbing; and continue Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service at the Funeral Home. Matt Maki will be the Officiant.
