Ruth “Irene” (Pearson) Skoglund, age 94, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in Eden Prairie, MN.

Named Ruth Irene, by parents Carl and Florence (Wahlgren ) Pearson,  from infancy to her last day, she answered to the first name, “Irene.”  Irene grew up on the Duluth Heights and was a Duluth Central High School Graduate, class of ‘49’.  In September of 1951 she married her sweetheart Ralph Skoglund, for 56 years they were together. In 1960, she and Ralph built their new home, packed up their kids and moved to Aurora, MN. She resided there for the next sixty years.

As a 65 year member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Irene was active in the choirs, women’s groups, quilters and served on various church boards.  In her community she volunteered with the Friends of the Library, was an original Giants’ Ridge Hill Host, a high school CC ski race volunteer, she loved walking and was an original member of the “Walkie Talkies.”

Irene was a terrific wife, mother, grandma, great -grandma, sister, aunt and friend.  She was a fabulous baker, cook, embroiderer, knitter, and Dancer of the Polka.  Mostly, our family will always remember her as the Lefse Queen!   

Survived by children:  Patricia (Steve} Fuchs, Carol (Barth] Humlie, Thomas Skoglund, and Craig (Deborah) Skoglund

 Sister:  Katherine (Roger) O’Brien; Brother:  Edwin Pearson; Sister-in-law:  Collette Pearson

Grandchildren:  Wade Skoglund, Brandon (Christin) Skoglund, Joshua (Julie) Skoglund, Laura Anne (Adam) DeJarlais, Janelle Fuchs, Andrew (Fiancée, Sierra) Fuchs, Kelley (Nik) Bayuk, Anna (Kyle) Linn, Benjamin (Tara) Humlie, and Jillian (Bradley) Humlie-Sutherland;  13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband:  Ralph; her parents; brothers:  Walter, Kenneth, Charles, and Robert Pearson; and sister:  Delores (Wayne) Shelhon.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 am and continue until the 11:00 Funeral Service on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Aurora.  Pastor Greg Anderson will officiate.  Interment will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. 

Memorials are preferred.
