Sherdell Burton, 35, of Virginia, Minnesota, passed away on January 15th, 2025. Born in the Twin Cities and raised in Virginia, MN.  He graduated from Virginia High School and then earned an associate’s degree from Mesabi Community College before furthering his education at the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities studying Biological Anthropology. 

Sherdell was a talented and passionate chef whose culinary journey included serving as a Chef at establishments such as Chino Latino in the Twin Cities, Grandma's Virginia Grill, Sawmill Saloon and Restaurant, and Boomtown Woodfire Bar and Grill.  His intellectual curiosity and love for learning were evident in all aspects of his life.

Sherdell had a deep love for music. His talent on both the guitar and bass guitar brought joy to those around him, and his creativity was an inspiration to friends and family alike. He made numerous albums with his band Neuralizer. His artistic abilities extended beyond music, as evident by his many amazing drawings and sketches. 

Sherdell is survived by Jeff Burton (Stacey Burton), Melanie Burton, Robin Koponen (Dan Koponen), and countless family, friends, and colleagues who will forever hold his memory in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his mother, Michelle Burton, and grandmother, Shirley Burton.

A gathering to celebrate Sherdell’s life will be held at a later date, where family will come together to honor his legacy and share cherished memories. A separate event will be held at a later date for friends and colleagues to gather and honor his life. 

Sherdell will always be remembered for his vibrant spirit, culinary artistry, intellectual pursuits, and love for music that resonated with everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
