Shirley Mae Poirier, age 95 longtime resident of Hibbing died Thursday, February 15, 2024 in Temperance Lake Ridge Senior Living Community in Sherburn, MN. She was born December 4, 1928 in Keewatin the daughter of Eric and Monica (Sweeny) Tappe and was a graduate of Hibbing High School. Shirley was employed as dietary aide, was an accomplished seamstress, and a homemaker. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Shirley is survived by children: Judy Poirier – Gonzalez of New Port Richey, Fl, Cherylnn (Harry) Brumbaugh of Fairmont, MN, Kay Ranger of Nashwauk, Candace Clark of Minneapolis; siblings: Rodney Tappe of Oregon; Grandchildren: Curt(Dawn) Ranger, Misty Lind, Stacy Sutherland, Greg (Courtney) Brumbaugh; Kamie Clark-Moen(Matthew;) great-grandchildren: Shelbi(Matthew) Schnichels, Cody Ranger, Caroline Moen, Jaxon Brumbaugh, Riley and Madison Lind, Tristan and Chloe Sutherland;  Great-Great Grandchildren: Murphy and Jack Schnichels,  Adrian Burgos: Nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Monica Buzzelli, Lois Lindquist, Vivian Batty, Cliff Tappe, Sharon Kutnz, DeWayne Tappe, Avenel Hall, Vincent Tappe, Elenore Ethridge, Ambrose Tappe, a sister in infancy; Son-in-Laws: Greg Clark and Barney Ranger, and twin Ranger grandsons.

Memorials are preferred First Lutheran Church of Hibbing

The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday February 23, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Pastor John Dietz will officiate. A gathering time for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will take place in the Hibbing Park Cemetery.
