Thomas H Sampson

            Thomas H. Sampson, age 85, lifelong resident of Hibbing, MN died Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center.  He was born October 6, 1940, in Hibbing, the son of Albert P. and Helen E. (Barach) Sampson.  He was a graduate of Hibbing High School.  Thomas was united in marriage to Nancy Stavn on May 5, 1962, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hibbing.

            Tom worked as a Supply Supervisor for Eveleth Taconite, Thunderbird Mine, for 27 years.  He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed traveling and golfing, and especially spending time with family.

            Tom is survived by his children: Lynda Sampson of Edina, MN, Amy (Jamie) O’Brien of Farmington, MN, and Mark Sampson of St. Louis Park, MN; daughter-in-law: Claudia Sampson of New Orleans, LA; sisters: Judy (Ted) Bovitz of Kelly Lake, MN, Sharon Sterle of Nashwauk, MN, Tina Sampson of AZ, and Kathy Salminen of Hibbing, MN; Brothers: Albert (Gwen) Sampson of Hibbing, MN, and Donald Sampson of Hibbing, MN.

            He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Jeffrey (2023); wife: Nancy (2024).

            A private service will be held in the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Pilgrim’s Chaple.  The Rev. Kevin Olson will officiate.  Inurnment will be in the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church columbarium.
