Sadly, Tom passed away on 10/11/24 surrounded by family after a long, very courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Hibbing on 10/14/46, grew up in Leetonia and was raised by his grandparents Mary and Louis Rogich.
He attended Hibbing schools, Hibbing Community College and graduated from UMD and the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, Minneapolis.
He was employed at the Mesaba Clinic in Hibbing for over 25 years and then St. Lukes Hibbing Family Medical Center for 20+ years.
He truly loved being a family physician for almost 50 years. When he retired, he really missed his patients and the clinic staff very much. He also loved being on the golf course at sunrise, fishing, gardening and most of all, deer hunting with his brother David and his special nephew Jonathan.
He was preceded in death by his mother Patricia (Zbacnik) Miller, Father Gilbert Loo and his loving grandparents Mary and Louis Rogich.
He is survived by Beth, his wife of 40 years, his children Dana (Jim) Schwieters, sons Jason and Christopher and grandchildren Megan and Jake Schwieters, brother David, sister-in-law Beth, their children Tricia, Kaela and Jonathan and their 11 children. Also, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob and Kathy Stirewalt, brother-in-law Gary Stirewalt and their 6 nieces and nephews. Lastly, his beloved dog Suki.
He will be so greatly missed by his family and the many people whose lives he touched.
Per Tom’s wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral. He will have a private family graveside memorial service in the spring.
A very special thank you to Dr. Cardwell and Felicia, Hibbing Family Medical Center, Dr. Fernandez and his entire oncology staff and the infusion center staff at St.Lukes/Aspirus in Duluth and St. Croix Hospice. Your kindness and expertise were greatly appreciated.
