Vernon Carroll Jensen, age 88, passed away on September 10, 2023 at Serving Hart Assisted Living in Chisholm, MN.  Vernon was a lifelong resident of Effie, MN, born on September 12, 1934 to Oscar and Thea (Krogstad) Jensen.  He attended grade school in Effie, MN, and graduated from Bigfork High School. 

            On June 11, 1955, Vernon married Arlys Simpson in Bear River, MN.  Vernon and Arlys resided in the Deer Lake community raising their 6 children.  Vernon worked in the logging business his entire life as a truck driver for his brother, brother-in-law, and nephew.

            Vernon was a hard-working man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and watching the MN Vikings and Twins.  He was known as a gentle and caring man to all who knew and loved him.

            Vern is survived by his children: Tony (Tami Bjork) of Chisholm, MN, Barry (Libby) of Brooklyn Park, MN, Les of Marcell, MN, Tracy (Jim) Baron of Chisholm, MN, and Laurie (Patrick Kearney) Anderson of Chisholm, MN; numerous loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

            He was preceded in death by his wife: Arlys; son: Rand; parents; sisters: Irene Johnson, Lila Blackmer, and Bernice Burman; and brother and best friend: Alvin.

            A Celebration of Vern’s life will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 1-4pm at Deer Lake Charlies in Effie, MN.
