Wilbur Vernon Hagen, 92, of Iron, MN, formerly of Neillsville, WI, died on January 20, 2026, at Carefree Living in Virginia, MN.  He was born to Vernon and Genevieve (Oldham) Hagen on December 5, 1933, in Neillsville, WI.  He attended school in Globe, WI.

In 1953, he married Carol Sturtz.  They farmed until 1977 and then he worked various jobs around the Neillsville and Marshfield area.  In 1991 he moved to Iron, MN and worked for Range Landscape until his retirement in 1998.

Wilbur began attending Good Shepherd Lutheran Church around 2000.  He was an usher, council member for many years and made morning coffee with his friend Jane Holden.  He enjoyed playing card games and bingo with friends.  He loved darts, fishing, working in the woods and playing with the grandchildren.  Wilbur was a quiet man with a quirky sense of humor and was always smiling. 

Wilbur is survived by 9 children, 20 grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, son and very close friend Jane Holden. 

Thanks to Carefree Living in Virginia for taking good care of Wilber and making his stay there feel a little more like home.  Thanks to Moments Hospice for their care for Wilbur, you were very helpful and comforting.  He will be missed by all who knew him, but he is with his Heavenly Father now and we will see him again.

A Memorial Service for Wilbur will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Virginia.   A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m.  Spring inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Virginia, MN.
